Bobby Shmurda's Mother Says He's No Gang Member

Leslie Pollard says her son was unfairly targeted by prosecutors.

Prosecutors may think Bobby Shmurda is a gangster, but his mother doesn't believe it. Leslie Pollard, a restaurateur from Brooklyn, sat down with My Fox NY to talk about her son's incarceration.
Shmurda, who's single "Hot Boy" has been on the Billboard charts for four months, remains behind bars after he was charged with murder and weapons conspiracy and accused of being the leader of the GS-9 gang. Bobby, whose real name is Ackquille Pollard, his brother Gervais and 13 other defendants were hit with a whopping 68-count indictment.

“They have their eyes on the minority youth in our neighborhood and they know what they want to see from [them],” she said, adding that she considers the entire GS-9 crew to be her babies.
“He has a lot of charisma. He loves to dance. He loves to sing. He likes to be the center of attention; that’s what he likes to do,” she said. “It’s a minor setback for a major comeback.”
Shmurda's $2 million bail has been denied twice, but his attorney Ken Montgomery says they're trying again. He adds, they're vigorously fighting the charges, and Shmurda is pleading not guilty to all of them.
