Jennifer Lopez on Love Life: 'I Am Not Ashamed of the Path I Have Taken'

The singer says she's finally taking time for herself.

When it comes to marriage, you could say Jennifer Lopez has been around the block a few times. The singer has been married three times and linked to a string of boyfriends in between. In the past, Lopez has admitted that she loves being in love and will happily jump right into a new relationship with both feet in, despite how any previous experiences might have ended. This time, Lopez is finally taking some time to love the person who should matter most: herself.

"My friends are constantly trying to set me up but I'm just not there right now. It's not something that's a priority. I have gone from relationship to relationship but, at the end of the day, I am not ashamed of the path I have taken or the lessons I have learned. I am who I am and I am human," she told the Mirror. "I do what feels right in the moment. And right now it feels good to just be on my own and have some 'I love Jennifer' time, which I haven't done a lot in my life."

Lopez also said her priority lies in caring for her 6-year-old twins, Max and Emme, with ex-husband Marc Anthony.

"I am just spending time with myself and my kids. I still believe in love, of course, but the thing you think about most is, 'Who is good enough to come into the life of me and the kids?'" Lopez said. "You just want the kids to know they are loved, that's the most important thing. Being a mother is my number-one priority."

But her taking time out for herself and focusing on the things that matter doesn't mean we might not see her walking down the aisle for a fourth time someday.

"You know, I've always believed in that institution but it is difficult. At the end of the day you just have to listen to yourself. You can't get clouded with the voices and advice of others all the time," she said. "I have a gut instinct and I follow that. When I don't, it's when I usually go wrong with people and relationships. You make decisions for two reasons: out of fear or out of love, and when you make them out of fear they end in misery."
