JuJu Smith-Schuster is trying to make the holidays bright for his community.

The Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver’s foundation, and the nonprofit Pay Away the Layaway, reportedly picked up the tab on $12,500 worth of layaway goods at a Compton Burlington Coat Factory.

Smith-Shuster, a Long Beach native and former USC Trojan, also enlisted the help of his mother. She was both excited and emotional to be a part of the event.

"I've been there, I know what it feels like. I know what it feels like to not make Christmas happen for your kids," Sammy Schuster said, according to ABC7. "So, this hits home for me. That's why we started the JuJu Foundation, so we can give hope, we can give Christmas, we can give love to families who are in need."

KDKA reports that the payoff helped 88 families.

“This has been an especially difficult year for so many families. Our mission at Pay Away the Layaway is to inspire hope and spread kindness, so what better way to kick off the holiday season than by surprising these families with the gifts they had on layaway for their kids?” Pay Away the Layaway Founder Lee Karchawer said in a release. “Every child deserves to smile on Christmas.”

This isn’t the first time the NFL baller has given back. He previously delivered Thanksgiving meals to senior citizens after the Steelers game against the Baltimore Ravens was postponed.
