Kendrick Lamar Gives Behind-the-Scenes Look at 'King Kunta' Video
Kendrick Lamar’s To Pimp a Butterfly is the most Afro-centric rap album since the N.W.A era, and that’s partly because of his new single “King Kunta.”
Earlier this month, K. Dot premiered the video on a Beats by Dre billboard in the middle of Times Square and released it on Vevo later that night.
“King Kunta” certainly made a splash, pleasing diehard fans that couldn’t wait to see another visual since the dance-ready “i.” Director X recently revealed to Complex that “King Kunta” was inspired by Instagram and Dr. Dre’s West Coast classic “Still D.R.E.”
In the behind-the-scenes clip released by TDE, we get an inside look of the Compton Swap Meet that helped the energy come alive in the video. Using time stamps throughout the day, Kendrick walks us through the process complete with memorable lines from the song.
