Hot Chocolate Lead Singer Errol Brown Dies at 71

"You Sexy Thing" crooner and co-founder of British funk band loses battle with liver cancer.

Singer Errol Brown died Wednesday following a bout with liver cancer, BBC News reports. Brown, 71, passed away at his home in the Bahamas.

Brown is best know as the leader of ‘70s British soul band Hot Chocolate. The group's most noted hit is “You Sexy Thing” released in 1975. The single peaked at No. 3 on the U.S. pop chart and No. 2 on the U.K. singles chart as well as appearing in The Fully Monty.

Manager Phil Dale tweeted a dedication to Brown earlier. “I lost my friend today,” he wrote. “It was a joy being his manager and his legacy is his music which will live on.”

The Jamaican-born musician was raised in the U.K. and co-founded Hot Chocolate with friend Tony Wilson. He is survived by his wife and two daughters.
