André 3000: I Want Leonardo DiCaprio to Play Me in a Movie

Three Stacks shares casting wish list for an Outkast film, speaks more on portraying Jimi Hendrix.

If an OutKast film were to hit the silver screen, André 3000 has a couple of ideas for who should fill the major roles. "It would be great to make an Outkast movie right now, but instead of really serious, make it a full comedy — like Kevin Hart would play Big Boi," Three Stacks told Rolling Stone during an L.A. screening of his Jimi Hendrix biopic, Jimi: All By My Side, Sunday (Sept. 21).

He had an even better casting choice for himself. "We should cast somebody stupid — like Leonardo [DiCaprio],” he said (coincidentally, DiCaprio might be up for playing an ATLien after that round of rap karaoke last weekend).

Speaking on more serious terms about what made OutKast so solid, the 39-year-old credited his group member for keeping things in line. "The chemistry that made OutKast was the balance," shared the Atlanta-born rapper/singer. "And honestly, Big's a much sharper rapper than I am. If I was going to a battle, I'd definitely bet on him instead of me.”

No matter how he feels about his rapping, the performance in the Hendrix flick will add another layer of conversations about the budding actor. Apart from losing 20 pounds to portray Hendrix, he found a personal connection to the late guitar hero's story. "When you first start, you’re nervous,” he explained of performing. “I remember the first OutKast shows I wouldn’t move at all. It takes you a minute to get comfortable in front of people. With Jimi, the story is about these two women that were in his life that really in so many ways helped make this guy. He didn’t have a lot of confidence in his voice. He actually didn’t want to be the frontman in a band. He just wanted to be the guitarist."

Jimi Hendrix: All By My Side debuts in theaters Sept. 26.
