NFL commissioner Roger Goodell held a press conference in New York City on Friday afternoon to make his first public comments since the disturbing Ray Rice domestic violence video hit the Internet last week and Adrian Peterson's child abuse allegations surfaced over this past weekend. 

“I am not satisfied with the way we handled it,” Goodell said of the Rice situation, which was overturned from an original two-game suspension to an indefinite suspension. “I made a mistake. I am not satisfied with the process we went through. I am not satisfied with the conclusion.”

When TMZ Sports, the outlet which released the video of Rice knocking out his then-fiancée with a punch on a hotel casino elevator, informed the commissioner that they got access of the surveillance tape with "one phone call," Goodell responded that the NFL didn't want to interfere with a criminal investigation and that's why they didn't contact the Revel hotel in Atlantic City, N.J., to get the footage.

When asked if he has considered resigning, Goodell said he is "focused on doing my job."

“I have not,” he said. “I am focused on doing my job. I understand when people are critical of my performance, but we have work to do. I am proud of the opportunity we have to make a difference and do the right thing. We’ve acknowledged that we need to make changes and now we have to get those changes going.”

Moving forward, the commissioner vowed to make changes to the league's personal conduct policy, exploring ways to handle future cases like these more effectively.

“We will make changes to the personal conduct policy,” he said. “I’m sure of that because we will make it happen. Nothing is off the table.”
