Taraji P. Henson Drops Empire Season Two Premiere Date on Twitter

The Lyons will return on September 23.

It's official: Empire strikes back on September 23. Taraji P. Henson, who plays Cookie Lyon on the wildly popular primetime soap, announced the news on Twitter earlier today, and Fox quickly confirmed.
"#Empire fans! @EmpireFOX Season 2 returns Wednesday, September 23, 2015! #MarkYourCalendars #GameTimeBitches," the show's official handle tweeted.
LIFE IN FILM: THE CAST OF EMPIRE

The first season of Empire was a ratings marvel, with every single episode increased in viewership and the season finale culminating with an 82% increase in from the premiere. For season two, show creator Lee Daniels is calling in the big guns in terms of guest stars. Chris Rock, Lenny Kravitz, and Alicia Keys have all been confirmed to make appearances. Plus — this should make fans happy — the Lyons will with us for 18 episodes, rather than 12 like season one.
The countdown starts now — just 118 days left to go! Tide yourself over with our exclusive interview with Ms. Henson and her co-star Jussie Smollett below.
