Chicago Gun Violence: 2 Dead, 13 Wounded This Past Weekend

Two people were killed and 13 were wounded this past weekend in Chicago gun violence.

Two people were killed and 13 were wounded in Chicago gun violence during the last weekend of summer, according to the Chicago Tribune.  
One victim, Cortez Rivers, 16, was shot early Saturday in the West Garfield Park area. He was taken to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced dead almost an hour after he was shot. According to police, Cortez had said, "Please don't let me die."
Another teen, Markise Darling, was struck multiple times by bullets in the thighs, stomach and buttocks at 2 p.m. on Saturday. He was taken to Christ Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead at 6:26 p.m.
On Friday, four men, Jabari Williams, 22, Derrick Allmon, 19, Michael Baker, 19, and Paris R. Denard, 19, were arrested for and charged with first-degree murder of Antonio Smith Jr., a 9-year-old boy killed on Aug. 20. 
There have been 312 people shot dead in Chicago in 2014, according to data collected by Red Eye Chicago.
