A Mailman Used This Excuse To Explain Why He Sat On 17K Pieces Of Undelivered Mail
A postal worker from Brooklyn is facing some serious federal charges after he hid away over 17,000 pieces of mail.
According to NBC News, Aleksey Germash’s strange mail-hoarding habits were revealed after USPS authorities received a tip that there was a Nissan Pathfinder in Dyker Heights containing over 20 stuffed mail bags.
Federal authorities searched the car and the apartment belonging Germash. They even found mail in his work locker, some of which dated back to 2005.
So why did he decide to do this? Germash told investigators that he was “overwhelmed by the amount of mail he had to deliver, but made sure to deliver the important mail."

Aleksey Germash, who has surprisingly been working for USPS for 16 years, was charged with delaying or detaining mail.
For those of you who live in NYC and never got an important piece of mail for some reason, you might want to check in and see if ol’ Aleksey’s got it held for you. Of course, we’re assuming that all the mail he was sitting on is in the proper hands.
