19-Year-Old Byron McBride Indicted On Capital Murder Charge For Shooting 6-Year-Old Kingston Frazier During A Carjacking

Two other suspects were arrested on charges of accessory after the fact.

The 19-year-old man suspected of fatally shooting 6-year-old Kingston Frazier during a carjacking in May was indicted for capital murder by a Madison County grand jury on Wednesday.

Byron McBride reportedly stole a vehicle from a Mississippi Kroger parking lot and Frazier was sleeping in the backseat of the car.

Dwan Wakefield and DeAllen Washington, both 17, were also taken before the grand jury on charges of accessory after the fact; however, it has not been stated whether they were indicted, reported the Clarion Ledger.

On May 18, Kingston was in his mother's vehicle when she stopped at a Kroger in Jackson and went inside with the car running. However, while she was inside, McBride stole the vehicle.

According to testimony in the preliminary hearings, McBride, Wakefield and Washington were in the parking lot to sell marijuana to someone.

Mississippi Bureau of Investigations Investigator Trent Weeks testified that McBride first said it was Washington who killed Kingston. However, he later changed the story and confessed to the killing.

Wakefield told police that McBride called him while traveling on I-55 North with the child in the car. When Wakefield told McBride to drop off the child, McBride said he was "going to off the kid," said Weeks.

Kingston’s disappearance set off Amber Alerts in the state and news of his death devastated his mother.
