Report: Escorts Used to Recruit Cardinals

Louisville to investigate prostitution allegations.

The city of Louisville said on Friday that it has launched an investigation into reports that former Cardinals staffer Andre McGee hired an escort service to provide prostitutes for recruits, reports CBS News.

The allegations, made by Katina Powell, are featured in an upcoming book titled Breaking Cardinal Rules: Basketball and the Escort Queen. Excerpts from the book were published on the Indianapolis Business Journal's website with details that McGhee hired Powell to provide strippers and prostitutes for recruits and some of their fathers over the span of four years.

The Journal's synopsis of the book stated that Powell brought women to a total of 22 parties between 2010 and 2014 at Billy Minardi Hall, where the Cardinals baskbetball palyers reside.

According to the book, the woman involved said that she and three of her daughters, in addition to other women, danced and stripped for the recruits and players, as well as performed sexual acts with them.

In a statement, the city of Louisville explained that it learned of the allegations in August and notified the NCAA, immediately. Chuck Smrt of the Compliance Group was pulled in to review the scandalous allegations.

"We're an open book," said Tom Jurich, Louisville athletic director. "We want to get to the bottom of it."

McGhee left Louisville in 2014 to become an assistant at Missouri-Kansas City.
