Adam Dowdell Case: Reward Offered For Information Leading To Arrest After ASU Student Found Slain

Adam Dowdell was last seen six days prior to his death.

Update 12:16 p.m.

A reward starting at $1,000 is being offered for information leading to the arrest of Alabama college student Adam Dowdell who was found dead in Montgomery under suspicious circumstances. Meanwhile, his grieving mother said she had hoped that he would be found safe, but was devastated when his body was discovered.

"I’m not good,'' Toya Cohill, told AL.com on Tuesday (Sept. 15). “I’m not good at all. We are all so lost, our hearts have just crumbled,'' she said. “I didn’t expect this. My mind is blank.”

The body of Alabama State University sophomore Dowdell, 22, was found on Monday (Sept. 14) after he went missing six days prior. He was said to be leaving his dorm with another student to get cash from a bank. Before long his family had started getting text messages that he had disappeared.
His mother said that things that he would have taken with him like his book bag and phone charger were left at his dorm room. His phone was turned off, so his family was unable to track his whereabouts when they arrived in Montgomery.
At 2:45 p.m. a body was found not far from the ASU campus that was later confirmed to be Dowdall’s. Cohill said she does not know why anyone would want to kill her son, but wants justice for him. "It would mean a whole lot to me,'' she said. As for whoever is responsible for his death, “I hope you rot in Hell. It’s just that simple.”
Central Alabama Crime Stoppers offered the reward for any information leading to an arrest and encourages anyone who can help to call 334-215- STOP, Secret Witness at 334-625-4000 or the Montgomery Police Dept. at 334-625-2831. Tips can also be submitted to Crime Stoppers through the P3-tips app.
