Lupita Nyong'o Will Star in Danai Gurira's Play Eclipsed
Two of our favorite women in Hollywood are joining forces to take over the New York theater scene. Lupita Nyong'o will star in Eclipsed, a play written by The Walking Dead's Danai Gurira, launching at the Public Theater in September.
Eclipsed is a story of survival and resilience set in post-colonial Africa, according to the Public Theater. It's described as a "feminist reading" of the Second Liberian Civil War. Set in 2003, the play follows a group of women who are abducted and made the wives of a rebel commander. The production will be directed by Liesl Tommy.
Nyong'o, of course, is currently starring in Star Wars: The Force Awakens, while Gurira continues as Michonne on the AMC hit series The Walking Dead. Eclipsed will begin previews on September 29 and will run from October 14 to November 8.
