Kanye West Throws Surprise Concert in London
Fresh off his Oxford University speech, revealing his new album cover, and picking up a BET Honors Visionary Award, Kanye West performed a surprise one-off concert at London's KOKO club Tuesday night (March 3).
Rising Chicago rapper (and Music Matters artist) Vic Mensa, G.O.O.D. Music signee Big Sean (who pulled in his first No. 1 album with last week's release Dark Sky Paradise), Raekwon, CyHi The Prynce, and English emcee Skpeta all took the stage as special guests. The show was sold out in a matter of seconds, Complex reports, much like his recent Yeezy 750 Boosts, and despite the restriction of a two-tickets purchase limit per person.
Ye added to the night's excitement — as if that were possible — when he and Vic debuted a new song, "Why U Mad," presumably the latest off Kanye's upcoming LP, So Help Me God (and a follow-up to the singles "All Day," "Wolves" and "Only One").
Also while in London, Kanye performed at the BRIT Awards, visited BBC Radio 1's Zane Lowe, and stopped by The Jonathan Ross Show.
