Muhammad Ali Hospitalized With Mild Pneumonia

Illness was caught early and sports icon is expected to make a full recovery.

The Greatest of All Time is still fighting.

Muhammad Ali was hospitalized Saturday morning with a mild case of pneumonia. Ali's spokesperson told ESPN and the Associated Press that the pneumonia being caught early should result in a short hospital stay for the beloved three-time world heavyweight champion. Ali is currently in stable condition.

"He was admitted earlier this morning, and because the pneumonia was caught early, his prognosis is good with a short hospital stay expected," Ali's spokesperson Bob Gunnell said in a statement.

Gunnell didn't mention where Ali is being treated, and the champ's family has requested privacy, but Ali is believed to be at a hospital in his hometown of Louisville, Ky. At 72, Ali continues to battle Parkinson's disease, which he was first diagnosed with in 1984 at age 42.

Earlier this month, Ali was photographed sitting next to Snoop Dogg at the high school football state championship game in Reno, Nev. They were cheering on Bishop Gorman High School, where Ali's grandson, sophomore running back Biaggio Walsh, and Snoop's son, senior wide receiver Cordell Broadus, are nationally ranked stars.

Before that, Ali made an appearance at his own Muhammad Ali Humanitarian Awards in Louisville back in September. Although the boxing great and cultural icon didn't speak, he posed for photos with sports legends such as Jim Brown and Bill Russell
