Gucci Mane Sentenced to Three Years for Assault

Rapper pleads guilty to charges from March 2013 incident involving fan, will serve time concurrent with 39-month bid.

Gucci Mane pleaded guilty to assault Monday (Sept. 15) for cracking a fan over the head with a bottle at a nightclub last year. He has been sentenced to three years for the incident.

The 34-year-old rapper attacked the man (a U.S. solider who asked to take a photo) in the club's VIP area in March 2013. “Rather than accommodating the admiring fan, Davis, for no explicable reason, instead, hit the victim over the head with a vodka bottle and then hurriedly left the club,” District Attorney Paul Howard said in a statement, according to the Atlanta Journal Constitution

Howard went on to say that the victim “sustained a deep laceration to his forehead which required 10 stitches.”

Gucci, born Radric Davis, will serve his three years concurrent with the 39-month federal sentence he recently received for illegal possession of a firearm by a felon. He will be released in 2016.
