Wale Addresses 'Losing It' on Album About Nothing Trailer

MC talks beefs, gets in the studio with Jerry Seinfeld for the first visuals off his upcoming album.

Wale is known for not only his poetic flow, but for lashing out on rappers and fans alike. But with his forthcoming Jerry Seinfeld-assisted The Album About Nothing, he's apparently set on getting “back to basics.”

The MMG-affiliate released the trailer for his upcoming LP Monday (Sept. 8), revealing a reflective artist as the video opens with audio from his Complex rant and his public Twitter debacle with label mate Meek Mill.

The video continues featuring images of Falorin prior to getting dreadlocks. “My, my, my times have changed,” he said. “Or have I changed over time? I’ve been doing a good amount of soul searching and I feel like I’m an emotional roller coaster these days. And honestly y’all, sometimes I feel like I’ve lost it all. Or I feel like I’m losing it.”

He continues, with somberness in his voice. “But the question is have I lost my people, fans? That irreplaceable bond that comes with being able to tap into things only me and them can connect with … Or maybe I lost myself? ... Like reading ‘We miss the old Wale’ a thousand times a day can fuck up a n---a head no matter how thick his skin is.”

The candid soliloquy comes to a close on a positive note. “Sometimes it’s better to get back to basics,” Wale concludes. The video rolls to the final scene with him and Seinfeld hard at work in the studio, promising an album release date soon.

Right after, he dropped the Jeremih-assisted track, "The Body," a spin off of R.Kelly's 1995 classic "You Remind Me of Something." The song sounds like another hit, envoking feelings of their 2011 collabo "That Way."
