Watch: Michael Phelps Reveals He Was Listening to This Rapper During The Infamous Rio Death Stare

Hint: He's one of hip-hop's busiest MCs.

Michael Phelps's notorious death stare in the Rio games will go down in Olympic and social-media meme history as one of the coldest ice grills the sports world has ever seen.

It was so legendary that the internet wondered if the swimmer's game face could replace the Michael Jordan crying meme.

Well, during the MTV Video Music Awards on Sunday night, the most-celebrated Olympian of all time put a musical inspiration to the mean mug he gave South African swimmer Chad le Clos during the Rio Olympics.

It turns out that Phelps was zoning out to Future's "Stick Talk" during the infamous moment, which became known on social media as the #PhelpsFace.

Let Phelps tell it, as he introduced the rapper.

As Phelps said, this isn't the first time that Phelps drew inspiration from a hip-hop giant.

During the 2008 and 2012 Olympics, Phelps zoned out to Young Jeezy.

Perhaps Phelps should let Future or Jeezy hold a couple of his gold medals. He has enough with 23 over his illustrious career.
