Damn: DJ Khaled Went Above and Beyond to Get a Verse From Jay Z

Looks like his hard work is paying off.

DJ Khaled’s highly anticipated album, Major Key, is finally out this Friday, July 29, and as far as his fans are concerned, the occasion is worthy of being declared a national holiday.

2016 has been an incredible year for the DJ, who skyrocketed his way to becoming a household name after his Snapchat usage went viral, leading him to lock down an opening DJ set on Beyoncé’s Formation Tour and signing to Jay Z’s management team.

As one can imagine, that didn’t come without hard work and sacrifice. A new interview is sharing just how far Khaled went to nail down a featured verse from Hov.

DJ Khaled has become a motivational figure in his own right by way of using his own story to inspire others. He recently shared that sometimes one must relocate in order to be closer to the necessary resources in order to make your dreams come true.

“I basically got a condo in New York City for a whole year to stay close by him and let him know how hungry I was for that verse,” the DJ admits.

What he shares next may have let the cat out of the bag that Jay Z has an album in the vault.

“So I went in the studio every day,” Khaled continues. “He was recording his album and I appreciate him letting me be around to capture that greatness, but at the same time I was hustling too, you know what I am saying. I wanna get that verse in. It was a year process.”

Safe to say the hard work he put in was worth it.
