Redman Commends Eminem For His BET Cypher: 'He Stood Up For Injustice'

"Anyone, everyone should respect that man for that."

Much like the rest of us who tuned in to the BET Hip-Hop AwardsRedman was blown away by Eminem's epic read of Donald Trump. While the freestyle was highly lauded by fans and others alike, the internet didn't hesitate to critique Em's onslaught bars.

But, if you ask Redman, the Detroit lyricist deserves all of our respect.

During a recent sit-down with BET, the hip-hop titan shared his thoughts on Em's brash message to Trump — and, he held no punches. "The delivery was great to me. It wasn't bad," he began. "When Eminem do [sic] something it's not just a song, it's not just a freestyle — it's a statement. And, even the way he talks. He talks to state things. Not just to be talking sh*t."

"As I watched that BET cypher, I was like, 'Wow," he continued. "You know, Eminem could've went up there and blacked out on rhymes with flows and kilt sh*t. But, he felt as a person of his color to represent us on BET with a rhyme addressing the president. Y'all gotta understand that, alright?"

"He's not Black, he's white," the rapper added. "We all know that. But, he has power. And he used this power on that BET cypher to make a statement for us as well, for all of us as a people. And, anyone ... everyone should respect that man for that." The Muddy Waters rapper went on to poke fun at Em's naysayers and those who were hyper-critical of his scathing delivery.
