Angelica Ross Will Host Presidential Candidate Forum On LGBTQ Issues
Pose actress Angelica Ross is slated to host the national 2020 Presidential Candidate Forum on LGBTQ Issues.
The forum will be presented by GLAAD, One Iowa, The Gazette and The Advocate and livestreamed from Coe College’s Sinclair Auditorium in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
The candidates confirmed to participate are Joe Biden, Cory Booker, Pete Buttigieg, Julián Castro, Tulsi Gabbard, Kamala Harris, Amy Klobuchar, Joe Sestak, Elizabeth Warren and Marianne Williamson.
“This LGBTQ Presidential Forum is a pivotal moment in the 2020 election cycle,” said Sarah Kate Ellis, GLAAD President and CEO, according to Deadline. “It’s the first time that LGBTQ issues will be exclusively discussed by 2020 presidential candidates on a national stage.”
A transgender activist, Ross will join Ellis on stage as they discuss LGBTQ-specific issues with the 2020 candidates, and give each participating candidate an opportunity to share their vision and plan for advancing for the safety and advocation for LGBTQ people.
“We look forward to hearing how the 2020 candidates plan to reverse the attacks and rollbacks of the Trump Administration and put LGBTQ Americans on a course to 100% acceptance,” said Ellis.
The forum hopes to be a stark contrast to the current administration’s horrid history of LGBTQ attacks in rhetoric and policy. So far, the Trump Administration has put a ban on transgender Americans from serving in the military and has stood in opposition to the Equality Act.
Streaming of the 2020 Presidential Candidate Forum on LGBTQ Issues will go live on September 20 at 7 pm CST.
