A South Pasadena father, who is accused of killing his 5-year-old son to get back at his ex-wife, was so carefree in his first hearing on Tuesday that he even joked with the judge, reported NBC Los Angeles.

Aramazd Andressian Sr., 35, told a justice of the peace he did not spend 47 in Las Vegas in an attempt to flee the country. Although the killing occurred in Los Angeles, he was arrested in Vegas with a notably different appearance.   

"If California wants me, they can come get me," Andressian said Tuesday in court. "I never came here in intent to flee."

During the hearing, Andressian even smiled and joked about being alright with California authorities coming to retrieve him.

As the hearing progressed, the unidentified judge told Andressian that California authorities had 30 days to claim him, but “obviously given the media they're going to come pick you up.”

“They'll probably take me with them!” Andressian said while laughing. 

Although Andressian’s spirits seem high, his murdered son’s mother and ex-wife does not understand his relaxed attitude.

"No justice in the world will bring my Piqui back," said Ana Estevez, using her son's nickname. "However, Ara will pay tenfold for all that he has done."

Additionally, Las Vegas authorities said surveillance cameras that picked up Andressian’s activities revealed his behavior was "not consistent with a grieving parent."

Andressian was arrested on Friday for the April disappearance of his son. The boy was last seen on the evening of April 20 at Disneyland, in the custody of his father, who was found unconscious at Arroyo Seco Park two days later and was unable to account for his son's whereabouts.

Andressian was arrested after two months of searching for the boy, but was later released for lack of evidence.

"It's been 60 days since that time. We've had a chance to gather evidence," Lt. Joe Mendoza told NBC LA. "That time has given investigators the tools and the evidence needed to present this case to the district attorney's office."

A $20,000 reward has been offered by the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors for information that helps authorities locate the child, who is white with brown hair and brown eyes and a small mole on the bottom of his right shoulder. He is 4-foot-1 and weighs 55 pounds.

"It may seem unusual to file murder cases when we have not yet found the child’s body, but rest assured, my office has successfully prosecuted such cases before," District Attorney Jackie Lacy said. "I am confident, however, that the evidence proves that Mr. Andressian committed this horrible crime."
