Heartbreaking Video Shows When This High School Football Player Suffered a Deadly Injury

Andre Jackson was only 17 years old.

What a tragedy.

Andre Jackson, a junior for Euclid High School's football team in Ohio, died Sunday, two days after he was accidentally kicked in the abdomen by a member of the opposing Solon High School squad during a game Friday. He was only 17.

You can see the second-quarter collision that Jackson was involved in below.

Despite the high-speed impact, Jackson was able to walk off the field to his team's sidelines without any problem. It was after that he began experiencing pain and was hospitalized that night before being released the following morning, according to local Channel 3 WKYC news.

But by Sunday, something wasn't right as Jackson was once again taken to a hospital, where he died. The Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner confirmed with ABC News that the 17-year-old died of peritonitis, an inflammation of abdominal lining, which stemmed from the in-game collision.

Euclid football coach Jeff Rotsky said that Jackson could have been accidentally kicked or kneed on the punt return, but called the play "completely normal." He also solemnly remembered his junior fullback and linebacker with a local news outlet.

Euclid's football team will have a moment of silence for Jackson before their game Friday night.

The school also released the following statement, as reported by Channel 3:

"The outpouring of prayers and support to the Euclid Schools, community, and the Jackson family has been tremendous. We are sincerely grateful for the calls, emails, text messages, and social media posts. We will ensure that the Jackson family receives all of the kind sentiments shared."

What an incredibly heartbreaking tragedy.
