Report: Eagles to Sign Tim Tebow to One-Year Contract

Philadelphia sees something in embattled QB that rest of NFL doesn't.

Obviously, Philadelphia Eagles coach Chip Kelly sees something in former NFL quarterback Tim Tebow that the Denver Broncos, New York Jets, New England Patriots and the rest of the league didn't.

NFL sources are telling ESPN that Tebow plans on signing a one-year deal with the Eagles on Monday. Tebow, 27, whose last NFL action was being a part of the Patriots' training camp in August 2013, will join a crowded Eagles quarterback roster, which already counts Sam Bradford, Mark Sanchez and Matt Barkley. Sanchez and Tebow were teammates with the Jets in 2012.

After becoming a national star at the University of Florida, Tebow played two seasons with the Broncos, including leading them to a playoff victory in 2011. After being traded to the Jets, Tebow saw limited action in 2012 and was cut in April 2013. The Patriots signed him to a two-year, non-guaranteed contract in June 2013, but he was again released.

Throughout Tebow's shortlived NFL career, he has been criticized for his inaccuracy throwing the football. He had been serving as an ESPN college football analyst since December 2013. Perhaps Kelly's offense, which favors the read-option and play-action passing, will help rejuvenate Tebow's NFL career.
