Whitaker will reportedly guest-star in what is described as "a multi-episode arc" on the Fox drama, playing a character named Uncle Eddie who is deemed "a charismatic music icon and hitmaker who gave Lucious (played by Terrence Howard) his first radio airplay."

Uncle Eddie, based on the full character description, is unlikely to play a villainous role as he reportedly will offer a helping hand to Lucious during a critical moment during his rehabilitation, with Cookie (played by Taraji P. Henson) bringing him on board to produce a song in celebrationg of the company's 20th anniversary.

Eager to see what else goes down with this new character and his involvement with the Lyons? Tune in on September 27 on Fox for the season four premiere of Empire.
