Look: Details Behind the Missing North Carolina Teacher Found Dead in a Lake

Krishawn Noble was three days away from his new job.

Friends and family members of 23-year-old Krishawn Noble found his lifeless body in Kernersville Lake Park in North Carolina last Friday evening.

Noble rented a paddle boat around 11:30 a.m. on Thursday morning. Nearly two hours later, park officials noticed his boat washed to shore with his wallet inside. Underwater sonar and bloodhounds were then used in a search for the teacher.

The first search for Noble concluded on Thursday evening; however, the next morning, friends and family started a new search. When the family removed his body from the lake, they were in extreme shock. Forsyth County Chief Deputy Brad Stanley says that two family members passed out and needed to be treated by EMS. One family member went into labor, Stanley says. After he was taken to shore, Noble was transported to the medical examiner’s office for an autopsy.

Before his unfortunate death, Noble was just three days away from starting his new job as a seventh grade teacher at East Forsyth Middle School. Last year, Noble worked at East Forsythe as a student teacher. He graduated from Winston-Salem State University. WSSU Chancellor Elwood Robinson called Noble "a promising young man" who "undoubtedly would have been an exceptional teacher and mentor for young people."

Detectives from the Winston-Salem Police Department’s crime scene response unit are investigating the specifics of Noble’s death. No cause of death has been reported, although some speculate it could be a possible drowning.
