It’s an understatement to say that Michelle Obama’s speech at the Democratic National Convention was an inspiring show-stealer. Her message encouraged everyone to act with class and grace, even when faced with someone who is acting as a bully.

After such wonderful remarks, it appears that one woman was particularly inspired by the message and decided to “go high” when she was faced with someone who “went low.”

Chelsea Anne Mayes was a patron at a Cheddar’s restaurant in Murfreesboro, Tennessee. Everything seemed normal and fine at the restaurant; however, unbeknownst to Chelsea, her white waitress posted a photo with an extremely racist caption on Snapchat.

“I’m so hungover and have a section full of n*****s right now,” wrote the waitress.

The Snapchat post eventually was shared so often on the internet that Chelsea saw it and recognized the waitress. Instead of lashing out, Chelsea decided to be the bigger person and send a spiritual message to the waitress and anyone else who demonstrates racist behavior.

After posting the message, commenters instantly showed their support for Chelsea and her brave message.

Since the Snapchat photo was first taken and shared, the waitress has been fired and the owner of that specific Cheddar’s location released a statement that read, “We, ourselves, were shocked and offended after learning one of our servers had posted comments on social media that were hurtful and derogatory. This type of behavior will never be tolerated in our restaurants. The server was immediately suspended and ultimately terminated after our internal investigation.”

Update: Now that the waitress has been fired, Chelsea has revealed that she never intended on causing the waitress to lose her job. 

"I would never want to cause a hardship on anyone else, but at the same time there needs to be a repercussion for her action," Chelsea told CNNMoney. 

After Chelsea's story initially went viral, she said she received a Snapchat message from someone claiming to be the waitress's mother. 

The mother wrote, "People are being shot by attack rifles and stabbings all over the world and you are this concerned over one comment that was made by a sweet, cute little blonde?"

"My response to her was that last year there were nine people shot down in South Carolina by a sweet little cute blonde," said Chelsea, referring to Dylann Roof, who is charged with murdering nine Black people in a South Carolina church. "Does that make it OK?"
