2 Chainz Explains Why He Declined Donald Trump's Invitation to Perform at Inauguration

"I probably won't be going to the White House anytime soon."

With Inauguration Day (Jan. 20) less than a week away, president-elect Donald Trump and his team appear to be doing some last minute scrambling, after weeks of reports detailing which artists he asked to perform and who declined. Hint: it's a lot of folks.

Now that Jennifer Holiday has officially backed out, even apologizing to her fans for entertaining the offer, 2 Chainz has come forward to share that he also was invited and chose to join the growing pile of a-list entertainers who have turned down the opportunity.

Taking to Instagram, the rapper recorded a video of himself explaining exactly why he chose to turn down the invitation, despite having hopes of visiting the White House someday.

"So I usually just leave a lot of s**t to myself," 2 Chainz begins. "I wanted to go to The White House. I never got invited. I seen all them beautiful pics of everybody going to all these parties. I just wanted to say what’s up to Barack. We all came from a troubled past, but I seen him give people some really big chances. But anyway it didn’t happen, and I’m cool with that."

He then dives into how Trump reached out to him, and it appears as though the decision to decline was a no-brainer.

"But then Trump calls management," he continues. "And I know they only doing this ’cause they can’t get nobody else. They want me to perform for the inauguration. I had to say 'nah.' No matter how much money it was. I probably won’t be going to The White House no time soon."

While the rapper says he won't be getting political anytime soon, referring to himself instead as "practical," he just might get a phonecall from Uncle Snoop congratulating him on the choice he did make.

Take a look at 2 Chainz explaining why he passed on the opportunity to perform prior to Inauguration Day in the clip below.
