In the past couple of months, Kanye West has quietly been digging his way out of the Sunken Place and supposedly working on new music. But despite having shied away from the public eye, Yeezy has still managed to leave a lasting impression on everyone he comes in contact with. One lucky fan in particular will never forget the moment the rapper gifted him with a fresh, new pair of Yeezy sneakers after hearing his inspirational story.

Fifteen-year-old Tyler Wesley was an aspiring athlete before he was involved in a horrific car accident.

The car wreck left him paralyzed after suffering from a spinal cord injury. Earlier in May 2017, Wesley hopped on Instagram to share his story with the world in hopes of inspiring other people who are going through similar situations. “My five-year anniversary of my spinal cord injury is today,” Wesley wrote. “Years ago I thought my life was over knowing that I was going to be in a wheelchair for the rest of my life.

But now, I am not ashamed of being in a wheelchair. I love the spinal cord injury/disability community. I’ve heard all kinds of injured and life stories from inspirational human beings from across the world. Many of them have taught me to never give up and that it can always be worse so just keep pushing on no matter how bad things may get in life.” The teen also posted a video on Twitter documenting his journey to recovery.  

After the story went viral, Kanye caught wind of it and decided to act on it by sending him a pair of cream white Yeezy Boost 350 V2s. The pricey gift also came with a sweet, handwritten note praising the teen for his courage. “Tyler, you are an inspiration. You show the world anything is possible. Thank you for sharing your journey,” West wrote.
