Michael Brown Scholarship Will Fund College Education for Siblings

More than $24,000 has been raised for the Michael Brown College Scholarship fund that will support the college education of his younger siblings.

Michael Brown was shot and killed by Ferguson police just two days before he was to start his first day of college. His family will never know what his future would have held, but his siblings will have the opportunity to get money for college, thanks to generous strangers.
More than $24,000 has been raised through crowdfunding for the Michael Brown College Scholarship fund that will support the college education of the slain teen's younger siblings. The Wisconsin Hope Lab and the Boys and Girls Club of Dane County in Wisconsin are the organizers behind the good deed.
"Mike's mom deserves to see her other children cross the finish line and receive their diplomas. I want to support her doing that,” Wisconsin Hope Lab director Sara Goldrick-Rab said to WISC-TV
Additionally, a university president—who has chosen to remain anonymous—has offered all three siblings full-ride scholarships. The money given by 169 donors through the GoFundMe campaign will also go to Brown's siblings.
Brown was slain Aug. 9 by Officer Darren Wilson after being stopped for walking on a Ferguson street. The teen was shot six times, including twice in the head, according to an independent autopsy requested by Brown's family. His death has ignited protests nationally as well as international media attention.
There has also been more than $150,000 raised in support of Wilson. The proceeds will go to his family for his financial needs and legal fees.
