Tyler, the Creator: Target Refuses to Carry My New Album

Retailer passes on Cherry Bomb.

Target refuses to carry Tyler, the Creator's new album because it dropped digitally first. Cherry Bomb came out on iTunes April 12 and is slated for physical release April 28.

Looking at his tweet from this morning, Tyler is less than joyful about Target shunning him. In his signature all-caps, the rapper wrote,  “TARGET WONT CARRY THE PHYSICAL BECAUSE I WENT DIGITAL FIRST. THATS F**KING STUPID, ITS 2015. WHATEVER THO.”

Target hit Beyoncé with the same treatment for her 2013 sneak release that debuted on iTunes and later Spotify. It didn’t seem to hurt sales, however.

Cherry Bomb landed in the Top 5 on the Billboard album charts and at No. 1 on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums tally, with over 50,000 units moved in a week.
