Tyler Perry on Cops: 'Police Are Not to Be Feared, I Have to Believe That'
Tyler Perry is fixing to make us all laugh with his new film Boo! A Madea Halloween, but that doesn't mean he's afraid to address the very real issues that scare Black folks on a daily basis — like police brutality and Donald Trump.
We sat down with the celebrated filmmaker to talk about the election, what he'll teach his son about police, and why Boo! is the perfect film to take your mind off of all your troubles.
"I want [my son] to understand that police are not to be feared they are, for the most part, for the most part, good hardworking people who are there to protect you," he says, reiterating, "for the most part."
He continues, "Unfortunately every now and then you run into those who are out of control, rogue, arrogant, who is hiding behind a blue line. I have to believe, for the sake of my own sanity, that there are more good than bad. I have to believe that."
See what Tyler has to say about Hillary Clinton, Trump and which celebrity Madea would choose as a running mate if she ran for president in our exclusive interview, above.
