WakandaCon Is Coming THIS Summer

Wakandacon will honor “Afro-futurism, tech, and entertainment.”

Are you ready to take a trip to the wonderful world of Wakanda this summer? You can... well sorta. Let us explain.

Enter WakandaCon, a weekend created to celebrate Black superheroes in film, gaming, television and comic books.

You read right! We have arrived, fam!

After the huge success of Black Panther, siblings Ali Barthwell and her brothers, David and Matt, created the “first of its kind” event, which will be held on August 3-5, 2018, at the Hilton Downtown Chicago.

Wakandacon's co-founder Ali Barthwell shared in a statement, “The moment we saw Wakanda in film, we wanted a space to gather and talk about everything African-Americans are passionate about. Afro-Futurism is about imagining a future for Black people all around the world. Wakandacon is a space for Black people to look past the present and into our future.”

We're ready! And with the full-access passport to Wakanda is only $35, pull out your best Wankanda fashions, because this event is fittin' to be lit.

And if you needed to know, "y'all black?" in their website's FAQ, they want us to know, "We sure are!"

If you are a little skeptical if it's real, the website ensures you: "Yes! WAKANDACON is happening."
