Danny Glover, the actor known for his role as Albert “Mister” Johnson in The Color Purple and Roger Murtaugh in the Lethal Weapon franchise, was born on July 22, 1947. 

Born as Daniel Lebern Glover in San Francisco, Glover took the entertainment industry by storm through voice-over work and starring roles in box-office hits.

Glover first came into the public eye for his Broadway roles in Fugard’s Master Harold… and the Boys, and his 1984 role in Places in the Heart. Glover also won an NAACP Image Award for his lead role in Beloved.

Off screen, Glover was the 2004 BET Humanitarian Award recipient. Glover has also been nominated for four Emmy awards.
