What's beef? Beef is what Funkmaster Flex cooked up when he dedicated one of his infamous rants to Jay Z, and what Dame Dash took a piece of when he dropped a play-by-play of the drama for PGTV.

"This was the coolest I've ever seen Funkmaster Flex," Dame said, after admitting that he can't really be "objective." He went on to break it down, however. "The statements that he [Flex] was making were impactful, he said that 'we don't need you.'"

According to Dame, that coolness that the Hot 97 DJ displayed was strategic. "He had a bigger picture in mind," he said, adding elsewhere, "I just never seen him stunt on anybody like that before ... putting a mentality that no one needs Jay anymore."

Astonishment aside, the Roc-a-Fella co-founder doesn't imagine Hov ever responding. "I don't think he can because corporate can't respond," he said. "Lyor [Cohen] hasn't responded, he's corporate ... Jay has signed on to a corporate way of doing business, the corporate way of doing things is don't bring more attention to more stuff."

Of course, Hov has never done anything exactly as he should (#newrules).
