Chicago Teen Charged After Posting Video Pouring Boiling Water on Cat

The 18-year-old uploaded the torturous clip to Facebook.

Harm against innocent animals doesn't always go punished, but when it does, it's satisfying to see. This Chicago teen is now facing charges after allegedly recording himself pouring scalding hot water on a cat and posting it to Facebook.

According to NBC Chicago, the 18-year-old, identified as Leon Teague, has been charged with one felony count of animal torture and one misdemeanor count of animal cruelty after the video was found showing him luring the cat on a porch before permanently burning it with the boiling water. In the clip, he can also be heard making noises to get the cat to come in his direction.

The video shows that, after being burned, the animal began howling loudly before running for safety away from the porch and Teague, who could be heard yelling, "never come back!"

After the video went public at 10:00 p.m. on Tuesday, the Cook County Sherrifs Department and the Chicago Police Department Animal Crimes team was successfully able to identify the culprit as the South Side Chicago teen.

Based on the last sighting of the cat, it is said to be alive in the area, but ran away while officers tried to catch it. Animal rescue groups are currently searching for it.
