Derrick Rose Responds to 'Untruthful' Rape Claims

Chicago Bulls point guard confident he'll be proven innocent.

Derrick Rose has broken his silence over an accuser's lawsuit, claiming the Chicago Bulls point guard and his friends drugged and gang raped her.

"I am just focusing on staying healthy and getting ready for the season," Rose said in a statement to ESPN on Thursday. "I am not going to comment other than to say — I know the truth, and am confident I will be proven innocent."

Rose's comments come after the woman, identified only as Jane Doe, says she and Rose dated from 2011 to 2013 and in August 2013, the point guard and his two friends, Ryan Allen and Randall Hampton (Rose's manager), invited her to Rose's Beverly Hills house. Once there, the woman claims they slipped a drug into her drink with the intention to rape her.
Although the alleged victim claims she was able to leave the house with a friend, she adds that Rose and his buddies broke into her apartment and gang raped her while she was still in a daze.

"The incident occurred in the early morning of Aug. 27, 2013. The plaintiff had visited the defendant's residence the night of Aug. 26, 2013, and returned to her residence in the early morning of Aug. 27, 2013," attorney Brandon J. Anand said in a statement to ESPN.
Meanwhile, Rose's lawyer, Lisa Cohen, continues to proclaim her client's innocence, saying the woman's accusations are "completely false and without any factual basis" and that "we have complete confidence that the case will be dismissed."
As of early Thursday morning, the Bulls only offered this as their statement: "We just learned about this matter and do not know all the facts. It would be inappropriate to comment further at this time."

Rose was crowned the NBA's MVP in 2011 and is a three-time All-Star.
