The Weeknd Is Back With 'The Hills' and It's Not About Lauren Conrad

The Toronto singer's sophomore album is coming soon.

The Weeknd has ruled the charts with “Earned It,” a song that originally appeared on the Fifty Shades of Grey soundtrack. Now, he returns with the official video for “The Hills.”

The song, which debuted at SXSW earlier this year, follows a similar dark aesthetic as his previous videos and mixtapes. It starts off with Abel Tesfaye crawling out of a car he crashed. Two long-legged women — presumably his love interests — also get out and they’re pretty angry. Tesfaye doesn’t seem to mind though since he’s got a different agenda. We follow him into an abandoned mansion where things look in disarray, and the finale will leave you with more questions than answers.

“The Hills” is definitely not a play on the MTV reality series The Hills starring Lauren Conrad, but it could be paying homage to Wes Craven’s The Hills Have Eyes. We’ll leave the interpretation up to you.
