Beyonce Accompanies Mothers Of Gun Violence To VMAs Red Carpet
Beyonce’s philanthropic past is long and hefty. And she doesn’t just throw money at everything either.
Case-in-point, she showed up at the 2016 MTV VMAs with some very special guests. Accompanied by her daughter Blue Ivy, Bey brought the mothers of Mike Brown, Trayvon Martin, Eric Garner and Oscar Grant out to the award show’s red carpet.
The moms have a previous relationship with Beyonce as each one made cameos in her LEMONADE visual album, so this isn’t some PR stunt.
It was Trayvon Martin’s death and subsequent not guilty ruling at George Zimmerman’s trial that loosely influenced the #BlackLivesMatter movement. Since, police-involved shootings and random killings of African Americans have driven a wedge between Americans nationally.
Lance Bass and Amber Rose began the night when it comes to bringing awareness to worthwhile causes. Bass donned a jacket reading “Love Trumps Hate,” in retaliation to the GOP presidential candidate’s campaign. Rose was accompanied by men in MUVA shirts to promote her annual “Slut Walk.”
