DJ Khaled Details Jay Z Collab for 'I Got The Keys' on 'The Breakfast Club'

There were some major keys in how it was put together.

DJ Khaled is the undisputed king of positivity in rap culture today and his attitude has landed him much success through social media and now with his latest album.

Sitting down with The Breakfast Club this morning (July 29), the Miami superproducer dropped some gems about Major Key. One of the biggest records off the LP is “I Got the Keys” featuring Jay Z and Future and when it comes to acquiring Hov’s verse, Khaled detailed how it happened.

“I played it for him and right when I played it for him I kind of glanced and looked at him and he was bobbing his head and then when the hook came on he was listening to the hook [bobbing his head more],” he detailed. “When the instrumental part came on I could already see him starting to rap it in his head… Then he was like, ‘Yo, leave this for me.’ The next day he hit me like, ‘Yo, I’m done, where you at? Come and see me in the studio.’ Boom, we cut the record.”

Amongst discussing the album more in depth, his recent endorsement deals and more positive developments, Charlamagne Tha God did ask him about his past situation with 50 Cent, who put out a viral clip critical of Khaled which was allegedly provided to everyone by French Montana.

“I never ever commented on it on a negative point or a positive point or any point,” he said. “I just don’t comment on it ‘cause when you deal with mom’s, everyone loves they moms so I don’t really talk about it ‘cause it’s a waste of energy to talk about it. I have nothing good or bad to say. Why talk about it?”

Also during the interview, DJ Khaled gave updates on his artists Ace Hood and Vado and let the world know whether or not his son has a name yet. Check out the full interview below.
