Ice Cube as Doughboy - Fresh off the heels of his departure from the infamous hip-hop group NWA, Ice Cube made his acting debut as a sharp, thoughtful dope-slinging, gang-banging felon in John Singleton's first feature film. Laurence Fishburne as Furious Styles - Laurence Fishburne has been working consistently for 40 years. That's an impossible feat for any actor, let alone an African American. He was the griot and moral compass of Singleton's film and his career only got better with the record breaking Matrix franchise and his Tony-award winning role as Thurgood Marshall in the Broadway play Thurgood. He has since gone on to star in several other films like Man of Steel, Ride Along and Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice, but he's made the greatest splash, starring in ABC's Black-ish and the mini-series Roots. He's set to star in the 2017 films Last Flag Flying and Ruby in Murdertown.(Photos from left: Columbia Pictures/Courtesy Everett Collection, by Kristian Dowling/PictureGroup)
