Snoop Dogg Has Some Criticism for Colin Kaepernick

The West Coast vet shares recommendations on the controversy.

As Colin Kaepernick’s social controversy continues to widen, there has been just as much support as there has been backlash for the 49ers' quarterback.

However, hip-hop’s legendary veteran and favorite uncle Snoop Dogg dropped some OG advice for Kaepernick during a segment on the FOX Sports One show Undisputed.

Kaepernick surged into America’s spotlight after his silent, kneeling protests during the singing of the national anthem before games. Now that the death of Fidel Castro has gained global attention, Kaepernick’s salute to the Cuban dictator has created even more hot debate. While Snoop sends a nod to the cause behind the NFL player’s social activism moves as of late, he also believes that Kaepernick may be throwing his apples in too many baskets.

“In the beginning, I understood it thoroughly,” Snoop said. “I’m one who has had situations with the police and I understand where he was coming from. But at the same time, you really have to stand for it. And I don’t believe that he can do that and play football at the same time. There’s too many rules and regulations.”

While Snoop added that he appreciated Kaepernick using his platform to raise awareness on an issue that needs America’s attention, he’s only one man. He feels that Kaepernick should get back in the game of football now that he’s “done his part” in bringing the issues to light. He then suggests an ultimatum for the 29-year-old.

“If this is what he wants to do, he needs to leave football out of it and just do it full-time,” Snoop declares.

The “Drop It Like It’s Hot” rapper also said that the real chip on everyone’s shoulder when it comes to Kaepernick is not the fact that he’s protesting, but the fact that they don’t want to face the truth about the protests.

“The truth hurts,” he said. “People don’t like dealing with the truth. They would rather him just be a football player and do his thing, but when he speaks the issues that really touch people and really mean something, they question him instead of what he’s protesting.”
