"I've grown quite a bit," she says.

Paula Patton's divorce from R&B singer Robin Thicke will be official this month, but the actress is already getting used to life post-breakup. The Baggage Claim star sat down with Meredith Vieira and spilled the beans on her new life as a single lady.

"You know, I'm doing really well," she said. "It's been a long year and a lot of challenges but I've grown quite a bit and just getting used to change."

Patton separated from the "Blurred Lines" crooner back in February 2014 after almost nine years of marriage. Eight months later, the 39-year-old actress officially filed for divorce from Thicke.

During her appearance on The Meredith Vieira Show, which airs on Tuesday, Patton explained that the most difficult part of the split is "accepting the new reality."

The former couple had been together since they met at the age of 14, and now that the childhood sweethearts have separated, the actress said that she has a newfound appreciation for growth. "I live in a place of gratitude and growing up in many ways, I think. I moved from my parents' house to moving in with Robin," she said. "And now I'm like becoming an adult at this old age. I'm really like a real woman now."

The Jumping the Broom actress, who shares a 4-year-old son, Julian, with Thicke, also opened up about life as a single mother and dealing with guilt as a working mom. "I took a lot of time off to be with him and then I had to pack for a trip because I had to go to work and he said, 'Mommy, I don't want you to go to work,'" she said. "I called my mom and I cried and she said, 'Darling, I had to work. We all hear that.'"
