Will Smith's New Buddy Cop Film Is Nothing Like You've Ever Seen Before

This ain't Bad Boys, for sure.

Will Smith is revisiting his cop movie roots for his next role, and while this may seem like familiar territory — see the Bad Boys franchise — you're guaranteed to have never seen him in this light.

The actor's no stranger to crime-fighting sidekick flicks, with the iconic Bad Boys, Men In Black and Wild Wild West under his belt. However, his latest addition to that aesthetic, the Netflix original movie Bright, shows the actor partner up with an orc on a night patrol trek that will "alter the future of their world."

According to Horror Movie News, the partner-centric film is "set in an alternate present-day where humans, orcs, elves and fairies have been coexisting since the beginning of time."

It follows the story of Ward (Smith), a human, and his patrol partner, Jakoby (Joel Edgerton), an orc, as they battle their personal differences while fighting off a slew of enemies. They both have one common goal in mind: to work together to protect a young female elf.

Bright, which is directed by David Ayer, will exclusively premiere on Netflix on December 22, 2017.
