Kendrick Lamar Films Music Video For 'King Kunta' in Compton
From Sunset to Long Beach Blvd, Kendrick Lamar is making the rounds among local fans first with his new No. 1 album (in the U.S., U.K. and Australia).
Kendrick was spotted shooting his next music video, "King Kunta," at the Compton Swap Meet. The track, which leaked a few days before the entire LP was sprung from the label vaults, is now the backdrop to, likely, some of the last footage of the popular landmark where NWA and many other local artists got their starts.
Mayor Aja Brown confirmed to TMZ that the Fashion Center's lot was sold to a retailer, and many of the mom-and-pop owners, who have worked at the community market for years, have already closed shop, reports the Compton Democrat.
"I've been going to the Swap Meet my whole life. As a kid, that's where I used to get all my cassettes, all my CDs," Kendrick once told Complex.
There's no release date as yet for the new visuals, or where to find Kendrick next. He was last seen rolling along the streets of L.A. for a free concert.
