Rihanna to Get 'Psycho' in New TV Role

The singer is about to recreate an iconic scene.

Get ready to see Rihanna on your TV screen soon as producers of Bates Motel recently announced that the pop star will play the role of Marion Crane, the character made famous by Janet Leigh in 1959 film Psycho, on the upcoming final season of the drama.

Revealing the news at Comic-Con on Friday, the producers spoke on why they ultimately chose the "Work" singer for the role.

"We wanted to thrust the iconic role into a contemporary spotlight and redefine it in a meaningful and exciting way," executive producers Carlton Cuse and Kerry Ehrin said, via the Hollywood Reporter. "We also heard Rihanna was a fan of the show, and we were huge fans of hers, so it was the perfect collision of creativity and fate."

Rihanna also sent her own personal announcement to Comic-Con. Check it out, below:

This all started when Rihanna said in a cover story for Vanity Fair that she was a fan of the drama. Soon after, the show's producers contacted RiRi's reps with the offer to play Marion Crane in the reboot.

Bate's Motel's fifth and final season is set to air in 2017.
