Texas HS Male Athletes Arrested for Sexually Assaulting Boys With 'Coke Bottles, Steel Pipes and Baseball Bats'

La Vernia High School expects more than the 10 victims to come forward.

A San Antonio, Texas, community has been flipped upside down over disturbing sexual assault allegations at one of its high schools.

Nine male student-athletes from La Vernia High School's football, basketball and baseball teams have been arrested on charges that they hazed and sexually assaulted at least 10 boys with everything from "coke bottles" to "steel pipes," "baseball bats and broomsticks," a victim's mother told Fox 29 San Antonio

The nine males arrested are either current athletes or former athletes of the school. Seven of the nine arrested last week are juveniles, while the two adults arrested Monday were booked at Wilson County Jail.

La Vernia police told Fox 29 that they expect more arrests to be made and upwards of the 10 current victims to come forward as its investigation continues. Victims began coming forward when one student-athlete told his mother that he no longer wanted to attend football practice, making her seek out why that was.

Speaking under the condition of anonymity, that same mother told Fox 29 how the sexual assaults were carried out on her son and other boys in the school.

"Kids were holding them down in the locker rooms, there was a lookout at the door watching for coaches not to come," she said. "They hold them down and stick various items up their rectum ... including coke bottles, deodorant bottles, steel pipes, baseball bats and broomsticks."

The La Vernia police department confirmed with the news station that the sexual assaults took place on the school's campus within its football and baseball locker rooms. A Daily Mail report also mentioned basketball players from the school being involved in the egregious acts. Both the school and community is doing what it can to aid the victims.

"Being able to give them those immediate resources that are available for them to start this healing process and we have those resources ready for them so they can visit if they come forward,” Sgt. Donald Keil told the news station.

The school and surrounding community are devastated by the shocking and disturbing allegations.

"The travesty of the events occurring at the La Vernia High School has crushed the spirit of our community. Our most valued beings, our children, are the reason that we live and serve in La Vernia," Jose Moreno, the Superintendent of the La Vernia Independent School District wrote in a letter to the community posted on the school's website

He added, "I ask that we unite and focus on recovering through this challenging time together. I encourage you to be thoughtful before posting negative comments on various social media outlets that may be hurtful to students, staff and community members. Let’s instead use it as a tool to communicate our true identity and tell a story of our wonderful students and their accomplishments. Our high school administration and athletic directors are implementing additional protocols to provide students a clear path of communication to report a concern, receive counseling and know that their voices will be heard while maintaining their privacy."

Let's hope that all those who committed these egregious acts will be arrested and that all the victims get the help they need to live happy, healthy lives.
