Tyler Perry Joins Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2
Tyler Perry is getting ready to tap into his turtle power. The filmmaker has signed on to co-star in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2, Variety.com reports.
Perry will portray a scientist named Baxter Stockman, described as a "brilliant (if slightly paranoid) African-American inventor" who creates a series of combative robots and ultimately joins forces with turtle-terrorizer Shredder to destroy the shelled heroes.
Megan Fox and Will Arnett will once again headline the cast, with Arrow's Stephen Amell joining.
Produced by Michael Bay, the original TMNT film earned $191 million domestically last summer and went on to take in more than $480 million worldwide, surprising even the most cynical box office observers.
Perry is spending more and more time in front of the camera these days. He portrayed the title character in 2012's Alex Cross, and made a memorable cameo as hawkish attorney Tanner Bolt in last year's Gone Girl.
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2 is currently slated for release in summer 2016.
