Details On Joe McKnight's Killer Assaulting Another Driver On The Same Street Corner 10 Years Ago

Yet he's still a free man.

Ronald Gasser, the man accused of shooting and killing former USC and NFL star Joe McKnight during a road rage incident on Thursday (December 1), is apparently no stranger to erratic behavior against other motorists.

According to the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office, In 2006, a 51-year-old male noticed a man driving unsafely and called the phone number on the back of his truck, which prompted people to report unsafe driving. It happened to be Gasser’s red pick-up and the number belonged to Gasser as well.

A verbal altercation began between the driver who called the number and Gasser. The soon-to-be victim subsequently drove to a service station to refuel his vehicle, was unknowingly followed by Gasser, and once confronted, was beaten with a closed fist several times. 911 was called after the assault and Ronald Gasser was charged with battery at the same intersection as the McKnight shooting.

The charge against Gasser was eventually dismissed for reasons still unknown to the Sheriff’s Office and presumably the victim.

Controversy began to brew yesterday (December 2) when it was announced that Ronald Gasser was not charged for Joe McKnight’s killing in New Orleans. A witness, who did not give her name, claims Gasser and McKnight were arguing, however McKnight was attempting to apologize. That’s when Gasser pulled a gun on McKnight and shot him more than once.

Police dispute claims that the shooter stood over McKnight and said, “I told you don’t you f**k with me,” and then firing again. The community is still demanding answers and charges to be filed.
